Kissing Frogs

Obviously the answer is “No.”, but it brings up a good point. Many children have fallen ill from kissing and handling frogs and other amphibians and reptiles. Most of these animals naturally carry Salmonella bacteria on their skin. It has no effect on the animals but can cause serious illness in humans.

Reptiles and amphibians can make wonderful pets. Most of them require special care and feeding. When considering one of these pets it is extremely important to adequately research their special needs and make sure you can meet these requirements before purchasing one. No animal purchase should be made “on the spur of the moment”, but that is especially true with these critters. And above all, be sure to wash your hands after handling and cleaning up after these wonderful little guys… and resist that urge to kiss.
