Pet Photos with Santa

Santa is coming to Hudson Veterinary Hospital on Sunday, December 6th from 1-4 PM to take photos with your furry family members!

A professional photographer will be on site to capture your pet’s holiday moments with Santa. High quality images will be uploaded to an online gallery and can be downloaded to your phone or computer.

All pet photos are on a donation basis. Thank you for your generosity! Santa, our photographer, decorator, and staff are all volunteering their time and equipment for this fun event so that all photo donations will be given to Paws of Honor to help care for retired military and police dogs.

Due to social distancing, we will be operating curbside for this event. Our staff will collect your pet and bring them inside to see Santa and then return them to your car.

Returning to Curbside Appointments

In light of rapidly rising cases of coronavirus in Summit County and Ohio, we are returning to curbside style appointments for all appointments effective this Monday, November 16th. We feel this step is necessary to continue to protect the health and safety of our staff and clients. For the time being, our kennel will remain open and we will continue to see regular wellness/vaccine appointments, sick, and emergency appointments, as well as surgeries. 

As before, when you arrive for your pet’s scheduled appointment, please call our office from the parking lot at 330-650-2929. Our receptionists will take your information (including your car description and cell phone number) and a technician will come outside to retrieve your pet from your vehicle. The doctor will examine your pet and you will be able to discuss any findings, recommendations or prescriptions by phone while you wait. Charges will be handled over the phone, and a technician will return your pet to you in your vehicle. 

Additionally, if you need to pick up food or prescriptions, please call the office when you arrive in the parking lot. We will handle your charges over the phone and then bring you items to you while you wait in your car. 

For your pet’s safety, please ensure that your dog is on a leash and/or your cat is in a carrier before opening your car door. A mask is still required for interactions with our staff. If anyone in your household is sick with a cough, fever, or any other possible symptoms of Covid-19, please reschedule your appointment or have someone else bring your pet. 

Once again, thank you for your kindness and flexibility. Even as we all run into “Covid fatigue” and are tempted to relax our guard, you have all been amazing. Here’s to a safe and happy holiday season!

Gradual Re-opening Phase 2

Hello, Hudson Veterinary Hospital Family!

We hope that this email finds you well and staying healthy during this challenging time. Our priority at HVH continues to be the safety of our staff and clients. As the state of Ohio progresses with reopening, we also continue to adjust our procedures. Starting June 1st, we will be welcoming clients who wish to accompany their pets into our office for scheduled appointments.

Please note that our procedures will still be a little different to continue to keep everyone safe. When you arrive at HVH, please call the front office to let us know that you are here. We ask that you wait in your car or in our patio area (maintaining physical distancing standards if there are others outside) until we notify you that an appointment room is open. Our staff will then take you directly into the exam room. Our appointment rooms are small, so we would appreciate only one individual per appointment bringing pets into the building.

If you choose to come in, we request that you wear a mask or other appropriate face covering; if you are feeling sick in any way, we ask that you find someone else to bring your furry family members in to see us. For those waiting on diagnostic results or lengthy treatments, we will ask you to return to your car while you wait. We suggest bringing a good book to help you pass the time!

We understand that not everyone may feel comfortable coming into the Veterinary Hospital yet, so we will continue to provide full curbside service for those who prefer it.

For those picking up medications or food, please understand that we will be limiting the number of people in our lobby at one time.

Thank you for your patience during all of this. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility as we continue to navigate this pandemic with the guidance and regulations from the state and the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association. We look forward to SEEING you soon.

Dr. Bob’s Retirement Announcement

Dear Friends,

As you may know, I transferred ownership of Hudson Veterinary Hospital to Dr. Kelly Willard and her husband Ryan on January 28, 2019.  I purposed to stay on in a supporting role to aid in the transition.   Now that they are well established, I will be retiring as of July 28, 2019.

It has been a privilege to serve you and your furry friends for the last 35 years as owner of Hudson Veterinary Hospital.  My mind is full of wonderful memories of people and pets that have crossed my path. I am humbled by the trust you have placed in me and my associates over these many years of caring for your treasured pets.  I hope I have served you well.

I want to strongly commend the Willards to you as the new owners of Hudson Veterinary Hospital.  They are very dedicated to veterinary medicine and have already implemented many wonderful changes to raise commitment of care and services to the next level. You will be blessed, as have I, in working with them.

As for my wife, Jane, and me, a new season is beginning.  I look forward to entertaining new hobbies and settling closer to family.  I will treasure the memories of you all.

Love these vets and staff! I have known Dr.Bob since the ’80s and have never been disappointed. They are most understanding and adept with an adopted gregarious German Shepard I recently brought in. They also always seem to have a piece of advice about my dog that I didn’t know before. Shots were no problem at all. I look forward to the day I can bring him in after his proper training to show them our progress. My pup still needs some work on his manners but they were very adaptive to his missteps. WE love Hudson Veterinary Hospital. The staff is kind and friendly. When my dog Charley fell down the steps they got us in right away and after xrays we found that his growth plates in his leg were broken. Dr. Mark got us in to the Copley Road emergency vet immediately and after surgery and lots of money, he’s all better! We’ve been going to this vet since we got our first dog in 1984. We had a bully, Curly, who everyone loved and the staff actually cried –when Curlman passed away. Just such a great small town vet!

When we first moved toHudsonfrom another state 7 years ago I had to make the painful decision to have my dog put to sleep. Someone recommended Hudson Vet. Dr. Bob and his assistant, Beth, came to our house. They were patient with us, kind and gentle with our dog, Jake, and respectful of his body when they took him away.

The staff have always been gentle and patient with our many pets over the years. They’ve nursed various cats and dogs back to health. They’ve allayed my fears when I’ve worried about a pet and are realistic when describing an illness or injury.
